Juli Deák - Brisk
‘Brisk’ is almost impossible to capture in words. Enchanting, captivating, and wondrous. It is the debut of Polish-Hungarian flutist Juli Deák. On the album, Deák explores the boundaries of her favorite wind instrument. She experiments with the classical rules and possibilities of the instrument: the clicking of the keys, circular breathing… Sounds that are not meant to be heard become a supporting part of the whole. On ‘Brisk’, Deák plays with the technical virtuosity of someone who has mastered her instrument for fifteen years, combined with the freedom of jazz and the inventiveness of experimental music.
